NAML’S PRINCIPAL

Gulshen Lacka-Ame is a dynamic instructional leader with over a decade of experience in K–12 education. Her journey spans classroom teaching, instructional coaching, and school-level leadership across Islamic, charter, and public school settings. With each role, she has remained grounded in her purpose: to serve Allah (SWT) by nurturing the hearts and minds of students through education that blends academic excellence with strong Islamic values. Gulshen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas at Arlington with specializations in General and Special Education, and she recently completed her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She holds certifications in Core Subjects with STR, Special Education, ESL Supplemental, and is currently finalizing her Texas Principal Certification.

In her most recent leadership roles, Gulshen has supported campus-wide instructional goals by coaching teachers, conducting T-TESS-aligned evaluations, facilitating data-driven planning, and leading positive behavior and discipline systems. She has been recognized twice as Teacher of the Year for her commitment to student success, excellence in teaching, and contributions to school culture. Her leadership style is rooted in collaboration, equity, and high expectations, with a strong focus on whole-child development, academic rigor, and Islamic character building.

Originally from New York, Gulshen relocated to Texas several years ago and has since become an active member of the local educational and Muslim communities. She is married and a proud mother of three children. As the new Principal of NAML Academy, she is honored and excited to lead a school community that values both faith and learning. She looks forward to partnering with staff, families, and students to cultivate a nurturing, academically strong, and spiritually grounded school environment, InshaAllah.
